Belgrade has, after waiting so many years, finally got something that many larger cities of the region already have - a skate park! According to those who understand the urban extreme sports, the waiting has paid off, since now Belgrade has a supreme skate park, the best in the region, capable of holding even European championships in skating, rollerblading or bmx bike riding.

The 5th animation festival Balkanima has been opened last night at the Cultural Center of Studentski Grad (Belgrade Campus). Besides the domestic animators, and those from the region, there are many guests from various european countries including Germany, Poland, Great Britain, Spain... This years special guest is Greece.

What started as a union of local animation artists five years ago is pretending to become one of the most serious animation festivals of Europe.

The festival will last five days and about 200 cartoons will be displayed. Besides the competition,the festival will be home to numerous workshops and presentations.

I've attended the presentation my self, and I can tell you, it really looks great!

October Art Salon is a representative event featuring actual tendencies in the domain of visual arts, founded under the auspices of the City of Belgrade. It was established in 1960 as an exhibition of the best works in the sphere of fine arts. In 1967 it became an important review of the current trends in applied arts, too. Owing to its tradition of more then four decades, the October Salon represents an important segment in the study of the modern Serbian art of the second half of the 20th century. The Salon has become a point of reference of Serbian culture, a representative review of creators in the broad sphere of visual arts and a great exhibition of authors whose selectors are prominent experts in this area. In the course of its history, the Salon has changed its concept and organisational forms, but it has remained a strong challenge to creative consciousness.

Every October children from a number of European countries come to Belgrade. They dance, sing, act and, most of all, they spend time together and have a lots of fun. Every October since 1969, Belgrade hosts the Joy of Europe. This year the Gala concert of Joy of Europe 2008 Festival will be held in Belgrade Arena!

Belgrade book fair

From 20. October to 26. October 2008. at Belgrade Fair

Presentation of domestic and foreign book production and buying and selling of copyrights. In addition to the publishers, the Fair is attended also by booksellers and wholesalers, librarians and many authors at their book promotions.

This year, Ukraine will participate for the first time at the Belgrade Book fair.

Country Guest of Honor - Japan.

The Guest of Honor will be located in the Hall 1 Arena and will have an opportunity to present on its stand as well as conference rooms its own publishing industry and culture within an action-packed program of social events, author showcases and educational seminars.
